Anorgasmia with Trazodone

Question: "I just started the Trazodone 50 mg 3 times per day and noticed that it is much more difficult to achieve orgasm. I could not have one with all SSRIS, but my doctor told me that it should not cause this side effect. is it just me? I never had this problem when I was on antidepressants. I'm in my thirties and a female. »

Response: Of many drugs, prescription both OTC, can cause problems with orgasm, including medications for hypertension, antihistamines and antidepressants. While inhibitors of the reuptake of serotonin (SSRIS) are known for this side effect, other antidepressants can also cause problems.

The extent of trazodone, however, it seems very unlikely, although I won't say impossible, that it was the cause of your Anorgasmia. in a quick search of the medical literature, I found a case report of a patient who has known Anorgasmia, which resolved itself as soon as the patient stopped taking the medication. However, a single case report really tells us much. It could just be a coincidence. probably the only way you'll know for certain that trazodone had nothing to do with your difficulties, it is trying to stop for a moment and see if things are better. If you choose to do so, however, please do so under the supervision of your doctor.

While trazodone is not related with Anorgasmia, it causes some other sexual side effects, such as:

Changes in libido - it is possible that you may experience a decrease or an increase in sex drive. If you confuse a lack on interest in sex with Anorgasmia? a loss of libido might make it a little harder to become excited and have an orgasm, even if you do not really know Anorgasmia.Ejaculation - problemsTrazodone may cause retrograde ejaculation, which means that instead of the existing of the penis during orgasm, semen rather backward travel in the bladder.Priapism/clitorisme-This well known, but rare, side effect involves a painful erection of the penis (priapism) or the clitoris (clitorisme) which does not disappear even after orgasm. It can cause permanent damage if not treated immediately, so you should consult a doctor immediately if this happens.
